Santiago de Compostela, in NW Spain, with the relics of Saint James has been a goal of pilgrims since the 9th century. The Camino de Santiago remains a popular route with pilgrims and hikers today. The Rua do Vilar is one of the main streets leading toward the cathedral, a spire of which is seen high in the distance. Even for one who is not a conventional Christian the old city and cathedral are very spiritual places. A friend with roots there, my making this print, and the hope of returning there again soon have helped me overcome the disappointments and isolation of the past year.
