In 1975, I saw a travel poster of Ryoanji Rock Garden. The poster was hanging from a balcony over stairs leading down to trains in Umeda Station, Osaka, Japan. I sketched the scene and finally, 44 years later, I made this woodblock print representing the dichotomy of Japan.
